Front Street Village plans groundbreaking for hotel and bistro

Bucky and Wendi Oliver are about to have their dream come true.  They have planned from the beginning of their Front Street Village development in Beaufort, NC to have a hotel and bistro with meeting facilities.

Tonight, Beaufort Hospitality Enterprises, a LLC owned by the Olivers, announced plans to break ground on their 133-room hotel and meeting facility in early 2017.  Charles “Bucky” Oliver made the announcement to town commissioners during a presentation at their November meeting.

The three-story Inn will include 129 guest rooms and four waterside suites that will overlook Taylor ‘s Creek.

A separate 30,488 square foot, two-story building will provide 8,444 square feet of meeting space and a 3,584 inside and 5,987 outside square foot restaurant.  Extensive back of house kitchen and service areas will support the entire operation.

Construction will start first quarter 2017 and is expected to take about twelve months.  “We plan to open in the Spring of 2018,” stated Mr. Oliver.

Mr. Oliver noted that the inn and bistro will support the weddings and group meetings as well as transient visitors to Beaufort.  The Boathouse at Front Street Village has become one of the premier facilities on the Crystal Coast for weddings.  They believe this expansion will grow the number of substantial events that The BoatHouse at Front Street Village currently hosts throughout the year.

Additional amenities at the Inn will include an exercise room with nearby access to the pool with seasonal poolside food and beverage service.

During the presentation, Mr. Oliver stressed that this expansion will bring 100 additional jobs to Beaufort.  Front Street Village currently operates with 60 employees during the peak season and approximately thirty during the off-season.

“We believe this project will make a regional impact,” said Mr. Oliver.

Two key partners in the development and operation of the expansion were announced by Mr. Oliver.

“Concord Hospitality Enterprises Company has agreed to operate the facility,” stated Mr. Oliver.  He was quick to point out that they are a first class operator in the hospitality business.

Privately held Concord Hospitality Enterprises Company owns or manages more than 100 hotels with 13,000 rooms. It has 4,000 employees and operates under brands including Marriott, Hyatt and Hilton, and it reports annual revenues of about $500 million. Their hotel portfolio includes properties in 19 states as well as two in Canada.

The Raleigh-based Concord Hospitality Enterprises Company operates the following hotels in North Carolina: Renaissance Raleigh North Hills, Raleigh Marriott Crabtree Valley, Courtyard Raleigh North/Triangle Town Center, Hyatt House Raleigh / North Hills, Homewood Suites Charlotte Airport, Residence Inn Durham and Brookwood Inn Durham.

Mr. Oliver announced another key partner in this project is the financing provided by Live Oak Bank of Wilmington, NC.

According to Mr. Oliver, the major hotel brand that has been selected for the Inn will be announced in January 2017.

The Olivers own and operate Front Street Village which features full service marina including The BoatHouse where up to 500 boats may be stored and maintained as well as residential units.
